Frequently Asked Questions

Tournament Calendar Note

Tournament dates and locations are subject to change based on event organizers. Coastal Elite will communicate updates as soon as information becomes available.

  • Rostered players are strongly encouraged to attend all scheduled tournaments, as team chemistry and development depend on consistent participation. If a conflict arises, please notify coaches as early as possible.

  • For the initial season, we plan to participate in a limited number of local and regional tournaments to balance competition with athlete development and family schedules.

Our focus is quality experiences — not excessive travel.

  • Most events are within a reasonable driving distance of Florence, typically in surrounding communities across western Oregon.

Locations and details are listed on our calendar and will be confirmed as registration deadlines approach.

  • No overnight travel is planned for the initial season. Most tournaments will be day trips.

If future events require overnight stays, families will be notified well in advance.

  • Tournament organizers typically release schedules 3–7 days before the event. Once received, we will share them immediately with families.

  • Players should arrive at least 45–60 minutes before their first game to allow time for check-in, warm-up, and team preparation.

  • Players should bring:

✔ Uniform (both light and dark if provided)
    ✔ Basketball shoes
    ✔ Water bottle
    ✔ Snacks for between games
    ✔ Any required medications
✔ Positive attitude and team spirit

  • Tournament entry fees are typically separate from monthly training dues. Costs will be communicated in advance and divided among rostered players.

  • Possible expenses include:

    • Travel (fuel)

    • Meals

    • Optional spectator fees charged by venues

Our goal is to keep participation affordable.

  • While we aim to provide meaningful playing opportunities for all athletes, playing time during tournaments depends on effort, attendance, game situations, and team needs.

    Development remains our primary goal.

  • Both matter — but development comes first.

We use tournament play as a learning environment to help athletes apply skills, build confidence, and grow as teammates.

  • Players are supervised by coaches during games and team activities. Parents remain responsible for their children outside scheduled team times unless otherwise arranged.

  • Coaches will respond immediately and notify parents or guardians. Emergency procedures will be followed if necessary.

  • All tournament information will be communicated through the team’s primary text messaging thread

    Families will receive:

    ✔ Schedule updates
    ✔ Location details
    ✔ Arrival times
    ✔ Important reminders

  • Players are expected to:

    ✔ Attend practices consistently
✔ Arrive prepared and on time
    ✔ Demonstrate effort and coachability
    ✔ Support teammates
✔ Represent Coastal Elite with sportsmanship

  • We ask parents to:

  • Yes. As the program grows, we plan to expand tournament participation and advanced training options based on athlete readiness and family interest.

  • As a general FYI - if your player is on the team roster, but their birthday does meet the tournaments eligibility criteria, this will be communicated in advance for your own planning purposes.
